The human instrument from the cells to the organs to the mind to the chakras and beyond is a great network of vibrations governed by natural laws. Our subtle and physical states are determined by how well-tuned these vibrations are. If they are weakened or held in check, we become out of balance and move away from contact with the true Self. The simplest way we ourselves can bring these vibrations into harmony is through our voices, natural instruments of healing power.
This workshop will be focussed on various forms of toning through vowels, consonants and seed syllables, drawing on certain Eastern traditions. Related to this will be some breathwork, the sounding of mantras and chants, the ritualising of natural sounds such as laughter, intoning Taoist sounds for the organs and collective vocal improvisation. These will be accompanied by simple Chi Kung-like movements to encourage and direct the sound. The refining of these vibrations will be internalised as a form of meditation. As an adjunct to the voice work, we will listen to tuning forks as a resonance factor for our nervous system. No one will be asked to tone on their own. No previous experience is necessary only the deep intent for an inner transformation.
