Since
1994 James D’Angelo, the author of the book (with CD) "The
Healing Power of the Human Voice" (Inner Traditions
International, July 2005), has developed and led therapeutic sound
and movement workshops in England, Scotland, Italy, Spain and the USA
and is considered an authority on the subject of sound healing therapies.
His study of breath work, overtone singing, tuning forks, self-actualising
psychology, his practice of sacred Sufi movements and his initiation
into Reiki healing form the basis of his work and its continuing evolution.He has conducted his courses at the Gaunts House Foundation, The Brightlife Institute. The Inner Potential Centre, The Skyros Institute, Cortijo Romero. The College of Psychic Studies, The Theosophical Society, The Hourne Farm Trust, Monkton Wyld Court, Hawkwood College, The Oxon Hoath Retreat Centre and Goldsmiths College, London. He has been an invited speaker/presenter at two International Sound Colloquiums (USA), the Caduceus Sound Healing Conferences, two SEAL Conferences, the Healing Sounds Festivals (Brighton) , the 1996 UK Music and the Psyche Conference, the Findhorn Foundation Visionary Voices Conference and the Alternatives Programme (London). Co-editor of Caduceus’s best selling issue on healing with sound and music, he is a regular member of its editorial board and chief consultant on sound therapies. Since 1987 he has been on the music faculty at Goldsmiths College where he specializes in improvisation and has introduced therapeutic sound into the course offerings. As a composer and pianist he presents performances of his own music which he describes as part of the new consciousness music movement in contemporary music.
